2015 meant fun, easy fashion

(LAKEWOOD RANCH, FL) – The year 2015 has come and gone some of the fashion trends still remain. 2015 was the year of Bohemian and surfer styles, trends that call back n some of the 90’s styles. 2015 held the introduction to the Alex and Ani bracelets that were first just a small store, but now bloomed into an up and coming brand.

Mustang takes fair pageant title

(LAKEWOOD RANCH, FL)-The 2016 Manatee County Fair crowned LRHS senior Beth Ciemnniecki its new queen. The pageant took place at Palmetto High School last Saturday. Ciemniecki won the Junior Queen division title in 2014. Ciemniecki has participated in the Manatee County Fair Pageant since 2006. “People think pageants are very competitive and just all about having big crazy hair, and overdone makeup, but it really isn’t; it’s about having fun and being you,” said Ciemniecki.

LRHS French club helps highlight the holidays

(LAKEWOOD RANCH, FL) – The LRHS French Club is adding to the holiday cheer by selling ornaments during all lunches. The fundraiser runs Dec 15-18. The ornaments are small 3D printed Eiffel Towers which are hand decorated by the French Club. Each ornament costs $2. A limited amount is available, and sales are first come first serve.

Mustangs mark American Education Week

(LAKEWOOD RANCH, FL) – American Education Week is this week, and LRHS teachers have a slew of fun activities to look forward to this week. On Monday, Sept. 16 students wrote appreciation letters to their favorite staff member. On Tuesday, Sept. 17 Mustang staff get fee muffins. On Wednesday, Sept. 18 no one is too cool for school, when faculty get a cold refreshing treat.

Concert calendar spotlights stars

(LAKEWOOD RANCH, FL) – As Thanksgiving and Winter breaks near, Mustangs are looking for something to fill their time. Concerts are a great way to destress from school and listen to some good live music. Check out this calendar for upcoming concerts in this area.


With the new school year underway many clubs are starting up again. For those new to the school deciding what club to join is a tough process. Here is a handy outline guide to finding a club that’s right –. Collection of students who make up the percussion section of band. To join Marching Band students must be in another Band class and be experienced in the instrument students are playing.

Poetry Club calls LRHS wordsmiths

(LAKEWOOD RANCH, FL) – The LRHS Poetry Club is gearing up for a second year. Poetry club meets every Monday. The next meeting is September 14 in room 522. Poetry club is sponsored by Advanced Placement (AP) literature teacher Teri Grimes. Poetry club is welcome to anyone who likes poetry, whether they write it, speak it, read it or just want to learn about it.

LRHS launches Gay-Straight Student Alliance

(LAKEWOOD RANCH, FL) – The LRHS Gay-Straight Alliance Club’s (GSA) first meeting is scheduled for after school Friday Sept. 11, in room 565. GSA was just launched this year. GSA is open to any Mustang. GSA is a place for anyone who needs a safe space were they can talk to like-minded people about their struggles.

Mustang Academic Team preparing for 2015-16

(LAKEWOOD RANCH, FL) – It’s time for Mustangs to get those trivial flashcards ready. The Academic Team (A-Team) is kicking off next week. A-Team is a team trivia competition that covers all subjects. A-Team is run by LRHS advanced placement government teacher Ben Hall. The first meeting is after school Sept. 3 in room 565.
